Texas Metal Building with Roll Up Doors | WolfSteel Buildings
Roll-up doors for Texas Metal Buildings are great cost effective options that are designed to coil into a barrel above the opening. They provide maximal internal usable space. Check out this video to learn more about roll-up doors.
The down side of roll-up doors is they are not fully sealed. This means air penetrates making it difficult to regulate temperature inside your building and critters like birds can access your building. Many of our clients have found this to be troublesome for them.
For this reason, we offer two great options to help seal your doors.
Header Seal: Since the roll-up doors roll into a coil when the door is closed it increases the space between the door frame and the door coil creating a gap above your roll-up door. This gap is usually 3”-4” where critters, dust, air, and even birds can access your building.
The header seal is designed to close or seal that gap above the roller door. This header seal is a heavy duty vinyl material. It is installed on the door header frame opening, runs the width of the door, and extends to cover the 3” – 4” gap above the door.
The price ranges from $180 – $250 all depending on the size of your door.
The negative downside of this header seal is it only helps seal the gap above the opening but not the sides. An alternative for those watching to seal both the gap above and the corrugated side is the brush seals. See brush seals below:
Brush Seal: Brush seals are designed to close the top and sides of a roll-up door.
These seals are composed of numerous filaments that create a seamless barrier, effectively sealing gaps of the corrugated garage door to ensure weatherproofing without hindering door operation. Our weather seal brushes are crafted from high-quality nylon filaments, while our holders are made from durable extruded aluminum. These brush seals are the most effective and significantly reduce infiltration of light, air, wind, rain, snow, and heat loss along with keeping out pests including but not limited to insects, rodents, and birds.
The price ranges from $200 – $600 all depending on the size of your door.
The negative downside of the brush seals can be the price and the aluminum finish will not be aesthetically pleasing. The aluminum finish can always be painted at a later date. If you are in northern states where it can freeze, there have been comments of scratching of the door.
